Row Row Row Your Kayak

After reading thesmartlocal post, I decided to jio asking him along X to go Kayaking with me.

Row, row, row your kayak, gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

We went to Water Sports Centre located near Stadium MRT and Singapore Sports Hub. It is kind of difficult to find this Water Sports Centre, but it is so damn near to the MRT. Why? Because we reached there at around 8am, but we were lost for more than 30mins. For those who are going there as well don't make the mistake as us, when you exit the Stadium MRT (Exit A), just walked to the end of the covered/sheltered linkway, turn LEFT!

Anyway, this is their rates :)

My memories of kayaking were during Primary and Secondary School Camp. I think during Primary 5 (11 years old) and Secondary 3 (15 years old) that time. Not much impression about it except for the one during secondary camp. I remember I was too heavy that time, I have to partner with one of the bigger size teacher and the worst part was I was heavier than her. Anyway after 10 years, I am going to attempt this activity again.

So when we were sitting on the kayak, the lighter one will be seated in front and the heavier one will be behind. I get to sit in front! Finally! So the heavier one will get in the boat first. Please note this is a very tricky part. During those school camp, you get in the boat when the water is shallow. This time, you get in the boat like somewhere in the middle of sea! I admit I panicked and nearly backed out. I mean, what if I dropped inside?! But I manage to get on board after a while and getting impatient stares from lifeguards.

To be honest, kayaking is so fun and scary at the same time.

The fun parts are...

1) Scenery. It is like those Chinese painting with mountains and lake/sea, but here you get buildings and sea.

2) Away from the noise..... Okay, I lied. When we went there, there were some team training dragon boat and Standard Charter Marathon for Kids event. But I do enjoying seeing those dragon boat team train, nope, not because of the hunks or babes their movements are very in-sync.

3) Bonding time with your love one. Well, we saw a father-son duo kayaking together and some couples too. Seems like a more affordable dating place.

4) Best place to quarrel. Well.. you can paddle someone further away from the crowd and have some shouting match or just push him/her into the water.  Just joking!

The scary parts are...

1) The lifeguards/trainers will only give some safety advises, how to get on the kayak boat and then... OFF you go. No further instruction about how to kayak and etc. I guess you need to either ask them or just figure out yourself.

2) I don't know how to swim, so I have constant fear of falling off the boat and become fish food. Throughout the kayaking session, I keep relaying my fear verbally to X. His reaction is pretty similar to this image ↓.

Lesson learnt: Don't trap in a island surrounded by water with me!

We will be trying out hiking soon!
soon = unknown future and most probably next year.

Review: The Butchers Club Singapore

Roaming around Clarke Quay with X on a relaxing Friday night, and while walking towards Liang Court, we are attracted to this store.

The Butchers Club
3A River Valley Road
#01-01B Clarke Quay
Singapore 179020

not sure what filter is this on Camera360, but make this photo looks very pretty!

According to their waitress, they are serving dry-aged beef patties burger... So what is dry-aged beef?

Dry-aged beef is beef that has been hung or placed on a rack to dry for several weeks. After the animal is slaughtered and cleaned, either the entire or half will be hung. - Wikipedia

Sounds interesting enough to try them out, right?! And just look at their menu

Their menu already screaming eat me! Eyeing on their RED-EYE REDUCTION!
BACON, EGG, HASHBROWN. All my favourites!

X already started eating before I can take photo of the food. :x

The Red-eye Reduction is sold out! T.T So we tried Double Happiness ($38).
Ignoring the fact that despite its name is Double Happiness, there is a knife stabbed in it. O.O I can totally imagine the burger saying, "Awww... are you on diet? But this burger is so nice, so just prepared for your death! FAT DIE YOU! evil laughter

Okay, but to the burger. It comes with double patty with double cheese and all the fixins between these two grilled cheese buns or what they called sammys. To X, the patty wasn't seasoned enough to his liking, but we both agreed that they cooked the patty very well with a light pink in the middle. The cheese and fixins are nice, I am secretly addicted to their bacon, it taste kinda sweet~

Their Duck Fat Fries ($8) is an add-on order, not a set meal kind. Wondering why is it called Duck Fat Fries? No, it is not just a random name. All this thick fries are cooked in DUCK FAT... To be exact, triple fried in duck fat! But sadly, it is not my cup of tea fries..

Definitely going back to try out their Red-Eye Reduction and maybe giving their fries another try?. The fries wasn't that nice during our last visit. Hope that our next visit the fries will be nice and like crispy.

Review: Pince & Pints Restaurant & Bar

Cafe-hunter, X and Nana on a mission to find food at Tanjong Pager area
after 6pm!

I felt that there is a need to write about this place that we visited during the long weekend in August. Yes, it is that long ago!. X and I decided to explore around Tanjong Pagar. We reached there at around 6.30pm, but most of the cafes are either closed during the long weekend or at 6pm.

We were really hungry when we were there hope it explain why I use the cub picture! At first, we intend to have Korean BBQ since Tanjong Pager have a wide variety of it. But we  really want to try something new, so we walked to Duxton Road randomly shhh... stomach stop shouting!. We came across..

Pince & Pints
32-33 Duxton Road
Singapore 089497

A simple looking restaurant that gives off a very old english wine stall feel  feeling ah. And... there is no queue when we walked past it. But after we were seated down, the crowd start to keep coming in non-stop. Most of the customers regardless of ladies or guys are dressed to impress, except for X and I are in comfy clothes which are tee and shorts. Okay back to the restaurant... Firstly, the staffs are very observant. When we drank finish the plain water, they filled it up immediately thumbs up!.

When I saw the menu, my first reaction "Wah, only 3 mains only?". Okay... 4 main courses if you count the Grilled or Steamed live whole lobster as 2 different dishes. And they only serve lobster leh!

Some random facts about Lobsters!

Chilli Lobster ($58++)
"Uncle, more mantou please. Thank you.", this is the first thought when I saw this dish. They are very generous with the sauce or gravy whatever you called it, so scared that we don't have enough mantou to eat with the sauce. The sauce is sweet, not like the usual spicy kind we had with Chilli Crab. I actually prefer this sauce, X don't really like it la. But both of us agreed that the mantou and lobster are good! Mantou is so crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. So sedap good!

Grilled Live Whole Lobster ($58++)
This is served with very-atas-looking Salad, Straight Cut Thick Fries and Herbed Butter Sauce. The lobster meat really deserves my 2 thumbs up! Even though the lobster is grilled, the meat is not dry at all. What sorcery is this? It is sweet and so juicy. I love their thick straight cut fries! X love everything about this dish from the salad to sauce.

They are not joking when they said they will serve the whole lobster! Just look at the photos, very very 满足 satisfied. Like finally there is a store that serve a whole JUICY lobster, not those skinny-meat-little kind. The lobster taste a little sweet and more to the sea water kind of taste X said the sea water part. This is the face I give when they serve us the main courses.

I wanna...

I think this post is pretty random and shortest post ever, I can't decide whether should I continue with my work or start on my school assignment both are due tomorrow. I am totally aware that precious time are slipping away, but I just want to vent express my feeling somehow or other.

Recently, I notice that as a full-time working adult and part-time student, I fail at time management terribly like now! Overtime, project from both work and school and assignments are really draining me out. There are so many things I really want to do, like travelling... But I don't have enough leave for me as I took most of them to prepare for my exam. ☹

In order to remind myself of these goals and wants, I decided to add a column on the right of this blog create a page just for it sorry... I have too many wants!. Do look out for that page!

Review: Banana Tree SG

Banana Tree is one of the must-go café for me in Seoul, South Korea. Sadly, I don't have a chance to visit them the last time I was there two years ago. When they open an outlet along Keong Siak Road, I know I must visit this place at least once!

Finally, managed to drag X with me last Sunday evening to try this super photogenic place.

Banana Tree Singapore
26 Keong Saik Road
Singapore 089133

Thanks to the korean lady who decided to bring the brand over to Singapore!

Red Bean Pot Bing Soo ($8.50 -Mini)
I thought that they offer some choices for the 'soil' like you can choose either crushed Oreo cookies or red bean. When I saw the photos on instagram, I just assume they are all red bean lovers. But when I saw their menu, they only have red bean for bing soo. It is a major turn off for me la because my stomach is really weak towards beans especially red bean and nutsBut at the same time, I really want to try it.

Dilemmmmmma~

Fake flowers, malt ice-cream, almonds, red beans, soy bean powder and shaved ice. Just look at the picture above, I would give them 100/100 for presentation because it is super chio pretty! X feel that the shaved ice can be smoother but to me, I like it. Those ice flakes ↓ is like those we had in ice kachang. Atas version of Ice Kachang.

Hmmm.. Before I start writing this post, I went to search more pictures online and I notice they changed the ingredients in their 'pot'. Some photos I saw is using fruits and some is using nuts or almond like ours. Personally, I would prefer it with fruits, but adding almonds also add some crunch to it.

Oreo Bomb ($12)
All Oreo lovers out there, this is good! X and I love it so much Me mad love~. It is a simple dish but my god, it is pure genius! You can replicate this dish  at home. Just crush some Oreos, heated it up and toss in two balls of ice-cream. Viola! Your very own Oreo Bomb. When they are mashed together, it is like handmade cookie and cream ice-cream!

How to get there
Located walking distance away from 3 MRT station Tanjong Pager MRT, Chinatown MRT and Outram Park MRT. It really depends on how you want to get there, I will attached the direction from Outram Park MRT.

Review: My Scheming Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set

Hello, I will be giving away 1 set of this mask! Do click on here for more information.

When I saw the video below , I am so tempted to try it out!
After some online searching, I found out this is a very popular blackhead removal product in Taiwan and of course, my favourite S.H.E member is the celebrity on the box! Fangirl mode Anyway, this product is not available in Singapore yet but... I can't wait to get my hands on it! So I decided to pre-order my set. FYI, I bought it at around $13 without normal postage fee. I saw on Carousell and Qoo10, this set cost around over $15.

*Zzang zang!*
This is the packaging. It has 3 products inside the box.
Left: (1) Deep Pore Sebum Softener
Center: (2) Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask
Right: (3) Skin Clarifying Pore Treatment Essence

This is the instruction on the box, but there is another set of instruction inside the box. A more detailed one but in chinese. I will roughly translated the instruction and have some photos along with it!

WARNING:

Last Warning... ... ...

... ... ... ... ...

Oh my. You are so brave, my dear reader. Anyway you have been warned, so let's get started with this post.

Step 1:
Cleanse your face well. After that, put a warm towel on top of the area you wanted to use the mask on for 2 minutes. This step is to let your pores open up.
WOW! Just look at the giant pores.. Stubborn blackhead everywhere! Remember I once mention that "blackheads are jumping out of my nose and chin", I am not joking.

Step 2:
Use (1) Deep Pore Sebum Softener. Apply it onto the area you wish to focus on. Let it rest on that area for 8mins before rinsing it off. It helps to soften the skin and open up the pores.

Step 3:
Use (2) Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask. Apply appropriate amount not too thick, not too thin on areas that you used (1) on and wait for it to dry. It takes about 15mins to 45mins (for me). After it dried up, peel it from the bottom to the top. This ↑direction.

... ... ...

Personally, I don't think it pull out my blackheads/whiteheads. I know my nose is not that clean. Just look at Step 1's photo. The pores are filled with dirty stuffs!

Step 4:
Use (3) Skin Clarifying Pore Treatment Essence. Again, pat an appropriate amount on areas that you used (2) on GENTLY.

To be honest, this photo is taken with beauty shot accidentally. But in real life, I am super disappointed with the results that I decided to give a try again. I repeated the process again and this time I applied a thicker layer of the mask this time round and...

... VIOLA!

This is the result I am expecting to rip out at the end of the day. Just look at the whitehead stuck there. Only one word to describe the feeling, SHIOK!

The AFTER!

Conclusion:

I had prepared a 'Before' and 'After' for you all to compare. Okay... My results is not as impressive as those video on youtube. Their result is really so good and obvious. For mine, I need to take a macro photo of my nose and zoom in to notice the difference. You can see the blackhead slightly lesser that the before but... pictures speaks a thousand words.

The product perform as it promised. It did remove blackheads but not totally. I have stubborn blackhead, maybe that's why the product didn't perform as well. :S Will post another update about this product after one or two months?. I am currently trying out some blackhead/whitehead remover softener that promise result.

Exploring Kallang Wave Mall

Kallang Wave Mall opened back in October 2014, situated within the Singapore Sports Hub itself and just next to Singapore Indoor Stadium & National Stadium is the place that have all activities for lifestyle, makan dining and entertainment!

While waiting for Big Bang's soundcheck to start, we X and I decided to lepak here! To be honest, we are impressed by the size of the FairPrice there. It is huge, I believe it is even bigger than the ones at Ang Mo Kio & Serangoon. According to FairPrice's facebook, this is the 1st “sports-themed” hypermarket in Singapore that sells bicycles, sports equipment and sportswear.

Oh ya, they have a indoor climbing wall, beach volleyball court and library within this mall!

Anyway, the highlight of this post is of course, the food we had. Seriously, there are so many food choices available making it hard for us to choose. Thanks to the girl giving out the discount coupon, we decided to have Japanese!

1-for-1 unagi & salmon!

Issho Izakaya
Located at the back and outside of the mall, it truly is a hidden gem!

From left → clockwise :
1) Daigaku Imo 2) Golden fried soft shell crab 3) Saba Shio Yaki
4) Kawahagi Yaki 5) Unagi Kushi Yaki 6) Salmon Sashimi

The sweet potato dish looks so simple but taste so good! Soft on the inside and a bit chaota burnt on the outside! Soft shell crab, Saba and Salmon are so scrumptious~ and their Unagi, I regretted I didn't order more. Kawahagi is not as crispy as we expected, this is our only complain.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Their staff is really friendly. We witness one of them try to strike up a conversation with the customer by asking who is their bias in Big Bang. To be honest, the food here are kind of pricey but for the food and service it is totally worth it! We will come back definitely!

Psst.. They have a lot of promotion for us to enjoy more at a cheaper price. Do visit their facebook & website for more information.

“Frozen Yogurt Machine on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest of Them All?
Plain, Lychee, Grapefruit or Chocolate?"

Aloe Vera, Cashew Nuts, Dark Chocolate Chips, Mandarin Popping Boba, Lychee Popping Boba, Gummy Bears, Nata De Coco, Flower Marshmallows, Rainbow Sprinkles, Apple Ring Gummies, Chocolate Sprinkles, Digestive Biscuit Crumble and the list goes on...

Lychee Yogurt, Kiwi, Strawberry with Gula Melaka Syrup
Love it because of the sauce/syrup. To X, the kiwi is slightly sour but I don't feel so. As for the Lychee flavoured yogurt, I love it but to X feels it is kinda of bland. We are so different!

Psst.. They offered discount on weekdays, so do visit their facebook or website for more information.

I am going to end this post with one of Singapore most iconic thing that I am sure all of us have done before!
