Review: Banana Tree SG

Banana Tree is one of the must-go café for me in Seoul, South Korea. Sadly, I don't have a chance to visit them the last time I was there two years ago. When they open an outlet along Keong Siak Road, I know I must visit this place at least once!

Finally, managed to drag X with me last Sunday evening to try this super photogenic place.

Banana Tree Singapore
26 Keong Saik Road
Singapore 089133

Thanks to the korean lady who decided to bring the brand over to Singapore!

Red Bean Pot Bing Soo ($8.50 -Mini)
I thought that they offer some choices for the 'soil' like you can choose either crushed Oreo cookies or red bean. When I saw the photos on instagram, I just assume they are all red bean lovers. But when I saw their menu, they only have red bean for bing soo. It is a major turn off for me la because my stomach is really weak towards beans especially red bean and nutsBut at the same time, I really want to try it.

Dilemmmmmma~

Fake flowers, malt ice-cream, almonds, red beans, soy bean powder and shaved ice. Just look at the picture above, I would give them 100/100 for presentation because it is super chio pretty! X feel that the shaved ice can be smoother but to me, I like it. Those ice flakes ↓ is like those we had in ice kachang. Atas version of Ice Kachang.

Hmmm.. Before I start writing this post, I went to search more pictures online and I notice they changed the ingredients in their 'pot'. Some photos I saw is using fruits and some is using nuts or almond like ours. Personally, I would prefer it with fruits, but adding almonds also add some crunch to it.

Oreo Bomb ($12)
All Oreo lovers out there, this is good! X and I love it so much Me mad love~. It is a simple dish but my god, it is pure genius! You can replicate this dish  at home. Just crush some Oreos, heated it up and toss in two balls of ice-cream. Viola! Your very own Oreo Bomb. When they are mashed together, it is like handmade cookie and cream ice-cream!

How to get there
Located walking distance away from 3 MRT station Tanjong Pager MRT, Chinatown MRT and Outram Park MRT. It really depends on how you want to get there, I will attached the direction from Outram Park MRT.

Review: My Scheming Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set

Hello, I will be giving away 1 set of this mask! Do click on here for more information.

When I saw the video below , I am so tempted to try it out!
After some online searching, I found out this is a very popular blackhead removal product in Taiwan and of course, my favourite S.H.E member is the celebrity on the box! Fangirl mode Anyway, this product is not available in Singapore yet but... I can't wait to get my hands on it! So I decided to pre-order my set. FYI, I bought it at around $13 without normal postage fee. I saw on Carousell and Qoo10, this set cost around over $15.

*Zzang zang!*
This is the packaging. It has 3 products inside the box.
Left: (1) Deep Pore Sebum Softener
Center: (2) Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask
Right: (3) Skin Clarifying Pore Treatment Essence

This is the instruction on the box, but there is another set of instruction inside the box. A more detailed one but in chinese. I will roughly translated the instruction and have some photos along with it!

WARNING:
SUPER GROSS ZOOM-IN PHOTO OF MY OVERCROWDED-WITH-BLACKHEAD NOSE!

Last Warning... ... ...

... ... ... ... ...

Oh my. You are so brave, my dear reader. Anyway you have been warned, so let's get started with this post.

Step 1:
Cleanse your face well. After that, put a warm towel on top of the area you wanted to use the mask on for 2 minutes. This step is to let your pores open up.
WOW! Just look at the giant pores.. Stubborn blackhead everywhere! Remember I once mention that "blackheads are jumping out of my nose and chin", I am not joking.

Step 2:
Use (1) Deep Pore Sebum Softener. Apply it onto the area you wish to focus on. Let it rest on that area for 8mins before rinsing it off. It helps to soften the skin and open up the pores.

Step 3:
Use (2) Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask. Apply appropriate amount not too thick, not too thin on areas that you used (1) on and wait for it to dry. It takes about 15mins to 45mins (for me). After it dried up, peel it from the bottom to the top. This ↑direction.

... ... ...

Personally, I don't think it pull out my blackheads/whiteheads. I know my nose is not that clean. Just look at Step 1's photo. The pores are filled with dirty stuffs!

Step 4:
Use (3) Skin Clarifying Pore Treatment Essence. Again, pat an appropriate amount on areas that you used (2) on GENTLY.

To be honest, this photo is taken with beauty shot accidentally. But in real life, I am super disappointed with the results that I decided to give a try again. I repeated the process again and this time I applied a thicker layer of the mask this time round and...

... VIOLA!

This is the result I am expecting to rip out at the end of the day. Just look at the whitehead stuck there. Only one word to describe the feeling, SHIOK!

The AFTER!

Conclusion:

I had prepared a 'Before' and 'After' for you all to compare. Okay... My results is not as impressive as those video on youtube. Their result is really so good and obvious. For mine, I need to take a macro photo of my nose and zoom in to notice the difference. You can see the blackhead slightly lesser that the before but... pictures speaks a thousand words.

The product perform as it promised. It did remove blackheads but not totally. I have stubborn blackhead, maybe that's why the product didn't perform as well. :S Will post another update about this product after one or two months?. I am currently trying out some blackhead/whitehead remover softener that promise result.

Exploring Kallang Wave Mall

Kallang Wave Mall opened back in October 2014, situated within the Singapore Sports Hub itself and just next to Singapore Indoor Stadium & National Stadium is the place that have all activities for lifestyle, makan dining and entertainment!

While waiting for Big Bang's soundcheck to start, we X and I decided to lepak here! To be honest, we are impressed by the size of the FairPrice there. It is huge, I believe it is even bigger than the ones at Ang Mo Kio & Serangoon. According to FairPrice's facebook, this is the 1st “sports-themed” hypermarket in Singapore that sells bicycles, sports equipment and sportswear.

Oh ya, they have a indoor climbing wall, beach volleyball court and library within this mall!

Anyway, the highlight of this post is of course, the food we had. Seriously, there are so many food choices available making it hard for us to choose. Thanks to the girl giving out the discount coupon, we decided to have Japanese!

1-for-1 unagi & salmon!

Issho Izakaya
Located at the back and outside of the mall, it truly is a hidden gem!

From left → clockwise :
1) Daigaku Imo 2) Golden fried soft shell crab 3) Saba Shio Yaki
4) Kawahagi Yaki 5) Unagi Kushi Yaki 6) Salmon Sashimi

The sweet potato dish looks so simple but taste so good! Soft on the inside and a bit chaota burnt on the outside! Soft shell crab, Saba and Salmon are so scrumptious~ and their Unagi, I regretted I didn't order more. Kawahagi is not as crispy as we expected, this is our only complain.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Their staff is really friendly. We witness one of them try to strike up a conversation with the customer by asking who is their bias in Big Bang. To be honest, the food here are kind of pricey but for the food and service it is totally worth it! We will come back definitely!

Psst.. They have a lot of promotion for us to enjoy more at a cheaper price. Do visit their facebook & website for more information.

“Frozen Yogurt Machine on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest of Them All?
Plain, Lychee, Grapefruit or Chocolate?"

Aloe Vera, Cashew Nuts, Dark Chocolate Chips, Mandarin Popping Boba, Lychee Popping Boba, Gummy Bears, Nata De Coco, Flower Marshmallows, Rainbow Sprinkles, Apple Ring Gummies, Chocolate Sprinkles, Digestive Biscuit Crumble and the list goes on...

Lychee Yogurt, Kiwi, Strawberry with Gula Melaka Syrup
Love it because of the sauce/syrup. To X, the kiwi is slightly sour but I don't feel so. As for the Lychee flavoured yogurt, I love it but to X feels it is kinda of bland. We are so different!

Psst.. They offered discount on weekdays, so do visit their facebook or website for more information.

I am going to end this post with one of Singapore most iconic thing that I am sure all of us have done before!

Review: IPL Treatment at Various Places

Remember I wrote a post about hair removal methods during Jan?

As a hair conscious VERY CONSCIOUS individual, I am glad to present you all my 100% honest opinion about some shops that I have tried. And of course, it is not a sponsored post.

Background story time

I have tried shaving, waxing, threading and IPL.

For shaving, all you need is a shaver. Super low cost but makes your hair thicker and darker. Not to forget the No.1 problem caused by shaving, INGROWN HAIR! And my hair grows overnight, so this method is pretty useless to me.

Waxing and threading. Pain super pain for some, but slightly more worth it than shaving. It last about 2 days to a week for me depends on the area. Please note that waxing do cause ingrown hair as well and the hair doesn't become fine at all for me. After threading, the area you 'thread' will be super RED. Waxing, be careful of the hot wax, I was burnt by it before.

IPL Intense Pulsed Light. It is like the most common and safest technology used for hair removal and whitening skin. The best part is this method promise to remove the hair FOREVER* subjected to individual and minimise pores!

Today, we will focus on IPL.There is so many shop offering this service and here are my personal reviews on shops I have been to.

* Some shop actually highlight to me that if you experience hormones change (like pregnant), your hair might grow back.

Revive Wellness @ The Central
What part/s I zapped?
Brazilian (Down South/Vagina)

How I know them:
Bought a voucher to try out their Brazilian Waxing and many others shops to try but theirs leave an impression hard to forget. They actually have a shower room for us to wash up the bottom before starting the treatment and kimonos to change into. Not only that they have the cleanest bed. Really bonus point! So about 1 or 2 year ago, I decided to convert my Brazilian Waxing package and to Snowflake Brazilian. Don't you love how they named the treatment? It is so Frozen-inspired.

Review:
When I first tried Snowflake Brazilian, it was somewhat magical as the treatment name suggested. Hair really become finer as I go for more treatment and now I am on maintenance package with a few patch of hair left. But to be honest, I think is a very expensive treatment just for vagina only, hope they will include the butt hole 'O' line. I mean when you do Brazilian waxing, they include the 'O' line, why can't they do the same for IPL? And yes, even though it is an expensive treatment, I still go back to this place for my Brazilian because they are super hygienic. After we washed up in the shower, they will still cleanse for us again. Double cleanse! As for therapists, I can't recommend any because there is no fixed one for me to discuss my hair with me.

Booking?
It is easier to book with them as compared to the other 2 stores I have been to. Last min booking is possible, but hard to get sometimes.

About them:

Musee Platinum Tokyo @ Bugis+
What part/s I zapped?
Underarm
How we know them:
Always wanted to try, but it was $138 for lifetime treatment. And when they have the $99 offer, I signed on! Psst.. they are offering $38 $30 for lifetime treatment for underarm and bikini line now for July 2015 Promo.

Review:
Each session last about 20mins including waiting time and the time  needed to make next appointment. So technically, the treatment for me is around 10mins. Please note that the time used varies because my friend's treatment took about 20mins. So does the 10mins treatment works? Yes, it reduce the hair and now only about left 1 to 2 strands each armpit. Don't know why but finally I am close to armpit hairless! Also, when I signed the package, the staff inform me that it will also help to whiten the armpits, but it doesn't happen on me la.

Booking?
Last min booking? No chances at all unless you are really lucky someone cancel their appointment. They are jam-packed! I don't recommend you to cancel your appointment with them unless you really can't make it.

*Update on 25 August: Cancelled my appointment for 23 August and the next available slot is end of November (Weekend). O.o

About them:

Datsumo Labo @ Orchard Central
What part/s I zapped?
Full arm, Full Leg, 'O' line, Upper Lips
How we know them:
How can I not know them? They are like Musee which have tons of advertisement and bloggers spreading their name around. Attracted to the $99/month offer, but actually they have a lot of plus plus plus. Just be prepared.

Review:
Each treatment took about 60mins to 90mins max. So far after ard 5-6 treatment/sessions, my hair are ultra fine. Even when it grows out, I will continue to wear shorts and can't be bothered to shave it. Because it is so so fine, I doubt anyone will notice it.

By the way, they might charge you shaving fee even if you shaved. Why? Because you didn't shave clean*. I not sure how they define clean but once the staff shave for you, a fee will be charged accordingly. And if you feel that your shaved hair is good enough for the treatment, you can request the staff not to shave for you.

* Information taken from a friend who asked them about it.

Booking?
Similar to Musee. Super difficult to get a slot with them, same advice as the one I give for Musee. Don't cancel your appointment with them unless you really can't make it.

About them:
In Conclusion

To be honest, individual results will varies. Some might work for you and some don't. As for me, I really like the results I get from all the shops I mentioned above. They are pushing me away from becoming Cousin IT in Addams google it if you are not sure who.

Just hope that for Musee and Datsumo Labo will improve their customer services and for Revive Wellness, not to be so pushy with their package.

Review: Blissy Box

Sorry for the late update! Work is really piling up and finally, I have time to blog about my experience with Blissy Box!

This is Part 2 of the review, you can see the part 1 review here. Once again, I would like to highlight that this is not a paid/sponsored review. I paid for it with my hard earn money. Wait.. I paid for it, does it means it is a paid review? Joke aside, I should really start my review before you click the 'X' at the top.

BOX 3 (For May)
This is the 3rd box that I received. Again, stickers are from my own collection.

They really understand us me. The joy of unwrapping gift!

The only time I am going to show you guys my pad because they actually gave a
roar roar leopard prints sleep mask!

yum yum time FOOD! The 1st snack they caught my attention is the Kitkat. Why is the wrapping in purple and taste slightly sweeter that normal one?! I like~ Personally I don't recommend them to send the rice cracker because by the time I had it, it is 漏风 not crispy already. Personally la

BOX 4 (For June)
"I am Number Four. I know that I am next."
- I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

Oh my god! Is that what I think it is?

... A freaking MAC eyeliner! To be honest, I already know that I am getting it because Anna have sent me a text message to inform me :)

This month is monochrome theme! I like~

Look! This month snack is even better! All my favourite especially Kinder Bueno~

Conclusion
I have tried to change my pads for the third box via text message with Anna and back to the original one for the forth box. My bad, when I change my pads, I didn't check it properly. But the changing process is really hassle-free, Anna even double confirm before she mailed out the box.

To be honest, I am waiting for promo code to decide whether to continue my boxes when it end. 😷

Review: FATCAT Ice Cream Bar

Cafe-hunter, X and Nana on a mission to find Salted-Egg-Yolk-Sauce waffle.

... ... Just joking. I went Bedok to run some errand and we decided to go cafe-hunting there. Also, this will be our last cafe-hunting session together before he fly off to Europe for school+leisure. Yes, he is going with his classmates alone without me.

Okay, but to the cafe that interests us!

FATCAT Ice Cream Bar
416 Bedok North Avenue 2
#01-25
Singapore 460416

They are a neighborhood café that just opened at the start of the year, but there are so many bloggers and media singing praises of it. This is the best example, just look at the instagram feed ↓ . Everything look so photogenic! No need to position the food, just snap and viola super instagram-able photossss!

image cr: instagram

Even the sign placing outside of the door also photogenic ↓!

Blackforest Sphere
This one-mouth dessert cost $4.50. The display of this dish feels very atas feel. Sorry, I am not the kind of the girl that is into fine dining. So, it just looks like round agar agar, but more watery kind. So how does it taste? According to X, it taste like brandy and agar agar. By the way, this dish is under 'Plated Desserts'.

Gourmet Charcoal Waffle
Salted caramel sauce. Sprinkles of dried lavender. And everything nice. Powerpuff girls! It is a BLACK CHARCOAL waffle! To be honest, it is a bit tasteless. I guess that's why you must put the ice cream on top of it. duh! But why risking it getting soggy?! The salted egg yolk sauce aka liusha ↓ taste like those mid-autumn egg yolk mooncake grainy texture not like those liu sha bun bao kind of sweet taste smooth texture. By the way, the salted egg yolk sauce (+ $1) is not include when you ordered the waffle ($6).

Ice-cream
We had Vanilla and Yoghurt Sorbet. Not too bad. They have a lot of other flavours like watermelon soju sorbet,  hay & honey, thai milk tea and etc. Do try them out.
